EASTON, Md. - Congressman Andy Harris has announced $1,212,586 is being awarded by the Federal Aviation Administration for the Easton Airport Runway through the Airport Improvement Grant Program.

Harris described the airport as an important transportation asset for Talbot County and Maryland’s First District.

“Completing this runway extension will improve safety, accommodate a wider range of aircraft, and support the airport's long-term role in serving local businesses, emergency operations, and the region's economy," Harris said in a statement Tuesday.

The funds from the program will support phase five of the project to extend runway 4/22 by 900 feet, including runway paving, bringing the airport into compliance with current FAA standards, according to the Congressman.
