Federalsburg Man Arrested on Attempted Murder Charges After Shooting

FEDERALSBURG, Md. - Authorities say a man is facing attempted second degree murder charges, after shooting another man during a trespassing dispute.

According to the Caroline County Sheriff's Office, on Sept. 24 around 1:30 a.m., deputies responded to the 28400 block of Bloomery Road for a victim with a gunshot wound to the chest. Authorities say the suspect, Thomas Barr, fired two rifle rounds at the victim because of a trespassing dispute. Barr is reportedly prohibited from possessing firearms and ammunition.

Deputies say the victim sustained one gunshot wound to the chest and was provided medical care on scene. The victim was transported to Nanticoke Hospital and later to the Christiana Hospital for further treatment.

Barr was charged with the following:

  • Attempted Second Degree Murder
  • Reckless Endangerment, Assault First Degree
  • Assault Second Degree
  • Using a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
  • Possession of Rifle By A Prohibited Person
  • Possession of Ammunition By A Prohibited Person

Barr is being held without bond at Caroline County Detention Center.
