GEORGETOWN, DE - The Delaware State Police have charged a Georgetown man with attempted first degree murder after they say he set his girlfriend on fire over the weekend.

Investigators say they were called to a home on Paradise Street just before 3 a.m. on April 20 on reports of a woman in distress. There, police found the 44-year-old victim suffering from severe burns across her body. First responders brought her to a local hospital where she remains in critical condition.

Police say their investigation revealed the victim’s boyfriend, Keith Morrison, 42, of Georgetown, had an argument with the woman before throwing an unknown liquid on her. Morrison then set her on fire, according to authorities. Morrison then fled but was found in a nearby field and arrested.
