DOVER, Del. - The Delaware Department of Justice says Tyleer Mills, a 51-year-old Dover man, has been sentenced to 22 years in prison for a variety of drug-related offenses.
They say Mills was sentenced by a Superior Court judge in Delaware on May 26. He was convicted on charges of Drug Dealing Tier 2 for dealing fentanyl and Drug Dealing Tier 3 for dealing cocaine. Mills also faced several charges related to parole violations from prior drug dealing convictions. It was due to these previous offenses that Mills was sentenced as a habitual offender.
Officials say Mills was arrested on September 19, 2024 by Dover PD. Officers found 270 grams of cocaine, roughly a pound of marijuana, and $7,000 in cash after that arrest. Police say the arrest followed a 7-month-long investigation into Mills' involvement with drug dealing while under probation for prior offenses.
Then, on July 29, 2025, police officers in New Castle County and members of the FBI's Violent Crimes Task Force witnessed Mills picking up drugs from another person at the Christiana Mall while they were investigating a cocaine and fentanyl distribution ring.
After being stopped by the New Castle County Police Department, Mills reportedly fled the scene, throwing over 5,000 bags of fentanyl out of the window of the car in the process. The bags were retrieved by law enforcement and Mills was later apprehended by Maryland and NCCPD law enforcement officers in Elkton, Maryland in early August of 2025.
Officials say a number of other people have also been charged in relation to this investigation and are currently awaiting trial.
