SALISBURY, Md.- The Delmarva Chicken Festival is returning this year to Salisbury, along with the iconic, largest frying pan in the U.S.!
The festival will begin Saturday, October 7th from 1 p.m.- 7 p.m. Holly Porter with the Delmarva Chicken Association says it is a time to honor the lifeline to the Delmarva economy.
"I think that's why it's so important to celebrate the heritage, and to also celebrate again what we would call our modern chicken community. You know how to take a look at where are we have come from how we started the very small chicken coops to you know the technology that we have now it's absolutely amazing," said Porter. "We are a $5 billion GDP of our economy we employ over 18,000 employees just with our five chicken companies and we have over 1300 family farmers that are raising chickens here so chicken chicken is extremely important to the Delmarva economy."
Planned attractions and events at the Festival include a marketplace, food vendors, a petting zoo, historical displays, baby chicks for visitors to hold, two stages for entertainment and programming, and more. Jimmy Charles, the Jones Boys, and Mike Hines & The Look are all slated to perform, according to the Chicken Association.
