LAUREL, DE - Laurel Police Department is searching for one more suspect after a hit-and-run resulted in a vehicle pursuit on Saturday.

On May 11th, around 2:40pm, Laurel Police Department report that one of their officers were traveling northbound on Sussex Highway in the area of Sycamore Road when they observed a gold Toyota 4-Runner driving erratically.

While approaching the intersection of Sycamore Road, LPD say the 4-Runner nearly struck the vehicle in front of it and swerved into the right shoulder to pass other stopped traffic. While making the passing movement, the 4-Runner struck another vehicle turning out of a driveway. Significant damage was caused to both vehicles. The driver of the second vehicle was later found to have suffered a minor head injury as a result of that collision.

The Laurel Police Department officer that witnessed the accident, blocked the roadway to escort the vehicles into a parking lot and clear debris.

During this time, the 4-Runner drove behind the building while the operator fled the scene on foot. A passenger in the vehicle moved to the driver's seat. When LPD officers tried to initiate a traffic stop, the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed and a dangerous vehicle pursuit ensued.

Authorities say the pursuit lasted several minutes and reached speeds up to 90 mph.

The 4-runner eventually reached a dead-end dirt road behind a farmhouse. The driver attempted to flee on foot and was taken into custody soon after. The passenger of the vehicle was arrested without incident.

Laurel Police report that the driver of vehicle was identified as 28-year-old Kenya Wynder of Bridgeville, Delaware. She was taken to the Laurel Police Department and charged with the following crimes:

-Reckless Endangering First Degree

-Disregarding Police Officer Signal

-Conspiracy Third Degree

-Resisting Arrest

-Leaving the Scene of an Injury Traffic Collision

-Reckless Driving

-24 additional traffic violations

LPD say Wynder was arraigned by the Justice of the Peace Court 3 and committed into the custody of Sussex Correctional Institution in lieu of $8,320 secured bail.

The passenger of the vehicle was identified as 26-year-old Shaquea Jones of Seaford, Delaware, according to Laurel Police. Jones was issued a summons for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution for two Violation of Probation warrants.

LPD say "The driver of the vehicle at the time of the collision is still outstanding. Officers reviewed surveillance video from nearby businesses." A photo provided by Laurel Police Department is shown below.
