TALBOT CO., Md.- Twenty-two people have been charged for importing and distributing cocaine and illegal opioid pills throughout Talbot County following a months-long investigation, police said Monday.
The Talbot County Drug Task Force and Easton Police Department Drug Unit led the investigation.
It started earlier this year, when police said they learned that Kevin Darnell Curry of Easton, and several other co-conspirators were openly distributing large amounts of cocaine, amphetamine, and illegal opioid pills at several bars, restaurants, and businesses in Easton, St. Michael’s and Oxford.
Police said they learned that Curry kept a close network of people who routinely helped him give out the drugs at those businesses. Curry allegedly worked closely with another man, James Dupont Kane of Cambridge, who supplied Curry with large amounts of cocaine.
Investigators said the drug ring was active during a two-month period, between September and October 2018.
Police worked with the Talbot County State’s Attorney’s Office before serving 26 search and seizure warrants in October at homes across Talbot, Caroline and Dorchester counties.
Through this process, police said they seized more than 200 grams of cocaine and $50,000 of suspected drug proceeds. The seized cocaine was valued at an estimated street value of $20,000 to $30,000.
Police also seized seven vehicles that are valued at $200,000, seven firearms, and various amounts of crack cocaine, oxycodone pills, Adderall pills and anabolic steroids.
Twenty-two people were charged with various controlled dangerous substance offenses and were arrested.
Upon an appearance before the Talbot County State’s Attorney’s Office on Nov. 14, a grand jury indicted 17 people with various controlled dangerous substance offenses.
