SALISBURY, Md. - Today is Cinco De Mayo, a perfect excuse to enjoy great food and drinks. Pinches Tacos in Salisbury shows us how they plan to keep traditions alive while keeping everyone safe.
This Cinco de Mayo may look a little different because of the pandemic. But as Pinches Tacos in Salisbury tells WRDE that doesn't stop the celebrations.
"We invite families to come out to support, we have a DJ coming out later, different food specials, and things like that," said Alejandra Hernandez, the manager of the restaurant.
In the state of Maryland Governor Larry Hogan lifted capacity limits for restaurants and lifted restrictions for outdoor dining.
Mask use and social distancing must continue indoors, but guests do not need to do so outside.
Pinches Tacos says they are happy to see the business growing.
"More people can be outside without masks and stuff like that so it's been a little busier, warmer weather helps, that's for sure," added Hernandez.
The Mexican and Honduran restaurant says they had plans to open over a year ago. But then COVID-19 hit and things took a turn.
"We signed our lease the week before COVID got announced and then we had to stay closed till mid-November. It was rough being able to get it open but it gave us more time to do the outdoor seating area," explained Hernandez.
Happy to be up and running for its first Cinco de Mayo celebration.
Whether dining in or deciding to dine out, Pinches Tacos assures that there's no better way to celebrate Cinco de Mayo than enjoying a traditional Mexican dish.

Maryland State Police is reminding people to drink responsibly and to not drink alcohol and drive. They are increasing patrols to make sure the roadways stay safe.
