Woodside, Del. - Two people are injured after a fire engulfed a trailer home in Woodside, Delaware. The Delaware Office of the State Fire Marshal has determined that the fire was accidental.
The fire, reported shortly before 11:30 am, occurred in the 1000 block of Barney Jenkins Road near Walnut Shade Road - Woodside. The Camden-Wyoming Fire Company arrived on the scene with flames engulfing a house trailer. Two occupants suffered smoke inhalation and were transported to the Bayhealth Kent Campus in Dover, Delaware for emergency treatment. A 44-year-old man is listed in serious condition with smoke inhalation and burns. A 58-year-old female is in good condition with smoke inhalation.
State fire investigators conducted the origin and cause determination. The fire originated in a bedroom when a cigarette ignited bedding. There were no smoke alarms in the residence. An occupant inside the trailer noticed smoke filling the trailer. The American Red Cross is providing emergency assistance for six displaced adults.
