CAMBRIDGE, Md. - Officials with the Maryland Department of Natural Resources say the Bill Burton Fishing Pier has been closed immediately and until further notice.
DNR officials say the closure is due to structural issues detected by engineers.
This impacts both the Talbot and Dorchester sides of the fishing pier, which sits parallel to the Route 50 Malkus Bridge, which crosses the Choptank River.
Shoreline fishing access and trails on the Talbot side of the park will remain open.
It remains unclear how long the pier will be closed.
