Brandywine Valley SPCA Opens New Pet Resort in Georgetown

GEORGETOWN, DE.- A brand new luxury pet boarding and daycare center has opened its door in Sussex County.

"We do offer very high-quality services, " Explains Walt Fenstermacher director of Delaware's Brandywine Valley SPCA, who runs the facility.

The "Eastern Shore Pet Resort" offers a wide range of services and accommodations for pets.

"The pets can enjoy room service where our staff would come out and give treats throughout the day, they can enjoy one on one play time and longer walks. The rooms also offer several amenities including TV, heated floors, aromatherapy and cameras for the owners to always feel close to their pets," he adds.

The facility has 13 suites and can hold up to 25 dogs a day in its daycare center.

"The Suites at "The Eastern Shore Pet Resort" are named after local beaches, from Bethany to Sunset and so on," adds Fenstermacher.

But, all the luxury has a purpose. This resort only takes a third of the facility, the rest is devoted to the "ARC" or Animal Rescue center.

"Here we host animals who need a little bit more time before being available for adoption. Usually cruelty or abuse victims," says Fenstermacher.

Some of the rescued animals have heartbreaking stories like a group of dogs rescued from a South Korean slaughter farm who are now being rehabilitated.

"We also took in German Shepards from a cruelty case in Atlanta, those animals were being hoarded, were being neglected."

The prices for boarding range from $45 to $75 per night, depending on the amenities. The resort will hold an open house on Saturday February 23rd, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at 19022 Shingle Point Road, Georgetown, DE.
