One Person is Dead Following a Shooting in Cambridge Sunday Afternoon

DOVER, Del.- Dover police have identified a woman killed in an early Monday morning shooting that left four other people injured.

Officers say 34-year-old Tiffany Montgomery, who was from the Dover area, died from a gunshot wound to her upper body.

Police said that shortly before 2 a.m., officers responded to the 200 block of West Reed Street for multiple shots being fired. Upon arrival, officers located a 27-year-old woman with a wound to her foot, a 39-year-old man with an injury to his shoulder, a 45-year-old man with a leg injury, and Montgomery, who was killed in the shooting. 

During the investigation, officers discovered a fifth victim, a 42-year-old man who was shot twice - once in the shoulder and in the year. The victim refused medical attention and was contacted as officers were conducting their investigaiton. 

Police said the other surviving victims’ injuries are not life-threatening.

Monday's violence brought the number of recorded shooting incidents this year to 11, resulting in three deaths.

The gun violence in the first six weeks of this year is far outpacing the number of shootings recorded in previous years. Last year, the Dover Police Department handled a total of 50 shooting incidents resulting in five deaths. That followed 31 shooting incidents and four deaths in 2018.
