Two women were arrested after a traffic stop lead cops to drug paraphernalia.

CHESTER, Md. -- Maryland State Police said three people are facing assault charges after a knife fight in the parking lot of a McDonald's early Friday morning.

It happened around 3:00 a.m. at the restaurant located on Chester Plaza.

According to MSP, Joseph Hughes, 31, Chesterallegedly started an argument with another man in the drive-thru line. A fight involving pushing and shoving happened before it was broken up and the man left the scene.

Then, police said Hughes started an argument with a McDonald's employee while he was in the parking lot. MSP said Hughes yelled racial slurs at the employee, identified as Sylvester Harris 4th, 41, Chestertown, who went outside to get Hughes to leave the restaurant.

Harris then told Hughes he had a knife he would use if Hughes didn't leave, which then prompted both men to take out their knives and fight each other, MSP said.

Hughes was cut and stabbed in his back. He was taken to the Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis.

Harris hurt his hand in the incident, and police said it may possibly have been broken. Harris was taken to the Queen Anne's Emergency Center in Grasonville.

Harris's girlfriend, Danielle Clements, 30, Chestertown, was also present during the fight and had cuts on her hand from the incident. She was also taken to the Queen Anne's Emergency Center.

EMS said all injuries were non-life threatening.

Hughes and Harris were charged with first and second degree assault. Clements was charged with attempted 2nd degree murder as well as charges for assault.
