LEWES, Del.- Meineke Car Care Center in Lewes has offered free oil changes to veterans on Veterans Day for six years now. This year's event took place from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday.
The franchise's hot air balloon hovered next to the business, giving tethered balloon rides. The Veterans Mobile Unit was on-site to provide free flu shots. Other local businesses, including Big Oyster Brewery and Community Bank, were on hand to help feed all attendees.
"It's just our way of giving thanks back to the community, the veterans that serve us and protect us everyday," said Lewes Meineke co-owner and operator Dave Repass.
"We were here at 6 in the morning," added co-owner and operator Jody Repass. "We had a line already waiting at 5:30 a.m. and things have been flowing pretty well. I don't think anybody has actually waited longer than an hour."
Dave and Jody Repass expect their business to perform 200-300 oil changes during this event.
