GEORGETOWN, Del.- An organization in Delaware is offering a path to college for low-income students.
"We are here to help," says Kim Lopez, she works with TeenSharp, an organization that has helped low-income and diverse students find a path to their dream school since 2014.
"As the director of Delaware Goes To College Academy, I focus on providing students the tools they need to succeed," adds Lopez.
TeenSharp helps students from all over Delaware find grants and scholarships to pursue a degree in to-schools across the country. It is a big help for students like Alex Mendez Reyes, who will be the first one in his family to go to college.
"Most of my family couldn't finish secondary education," says Mendez Reyes. "With TeenSharp I learned a lot about the application process and how to find the best scholarships," he says.
Tiffany Ambriz-Duran, is also a senior taking part of the program, she says now she feels more confident.
"The application process is so stressful, I could't have done it without the help of TeenSharp," adds Ambriz-Duran.
Currently, the program is looking for sophomores, juniors, and seniors who need guidance on the college application process.
"We are located in New Castle, but help students all over the state. We help them with their essays, anything they need to support them in that process, we prep them for interviews and even offer tutoring," says Lopez.
