SALISBURY, Md.- The now-former vice principal of James M. Bennett High School in Salisbury has been charged on a criminal summons with one count of failure to report abuse/neglect and one count of conspiracy to not report abuse/neglect, court records show.
Kimandi Binns served as vice principal under now-former James M. Bennett Principal Amy Eskridge, who was charged in February with prevention or interference with a report of suspected abuse or neglect.
The charges filed against Binns and Eskridge - all misdemeanors - stemmed from the January arrest of 33-year-old Allen Mitchell, a guidance counselor at James M. Bennett.
Court documents show that over the course of several years, Mitchell, while in his role as guidance counselor at the school, engaged in inappropriate conduct with two minor victims and further engaged in sexual acts with a third minor victim.
Court documents show all three victims attended public schools within the county.
Mitchell, who originally faced 30 charges, pleaded guilty in October to four charges: sexual abuse of a minor (felony), manufacturing of child pornography (felony), contributing to the condition of a minor (misdemeanor) and telephone misuse: obscene matter (misdemeanor).
Mitchell, who is set to be sentenced on Jan. 30, faces up to 41 years in prison, according to prosecutors.
An initial appearance/hearing for Binns is scheduled for Jan. 3.
Eskridge has a jury trial scheduled for Feb. 10-11 in Wicomico County Circuit Court.
