PARSONSBURG, Md.- A Salisbury man has been sentenced for killing two people in a Parsonsburg crash last year.

Prosecutors say Sammy Hwang pleaded guilty to two counts of grossly negligent manslaughter by automobile on Monday. A judge sentenced Hwang to 20 years with all but eight years suspended. Hwang will be on supervised probation for three years following his release.

Authorities say on July 12, 2022, Hwang crashed into the back of a car on Route 50 near Forest Grove Road in Parsonsburg around 4 a.m., sending the car into a tree.

One person died at the scene. Another died several weeks later from her injuries.

Five people were inside the car in total. All of them were driving home after working overnight.

Investigators say that Hwang was driving at 110 mph and had a .11 blood alcohol concentration.
