Salisbury, MD.- A significant milestone for Crisfield native and new Brigadier General Andrew Collins.
On Thursday, Collins was promoted to the rank of Brigadier General at the Salisbury armory. He also serves as commander for the Maryland Army National Guard.
Collins has previously acted as Deputy Inspector General, a training division chief and as the Chief of Staff with the Maryland National Guard.
Notably, Collins has led the 115th Military Police Battalion in Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom. He has also commanded the 70th Regiment and the 58th Troop Command and served in the Second Battalion, 325th Infantry Regiment of the 82nd Airborne Division, with which he was deployed to support Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003 and 2004.
Collins says he has always had a good strategy for success.
“It's about the people that I have served with over the years. No single person is the reason for their own success. I attribute the success that I've had to many others.” He went on to say, “[I] listen to input that they've provided and through that, building those teams and building that network of people has led to where I am today.”
Brigadier General Collins is one of more than 420 officers across the U.S. Military to be confirmed by the senate for promotion.
