HARRINGTON, Del. - Troopers say the suspect broke into an elderly woman's home Thursday evening.
Delaware State Police say they arrested 20-year-old Mcy Mondestin, of Federalsburg, on felony burglary charges.
According to state police, on the evening of Dec. 21, Mondestin broke into an elderly woman's home on Genesis Lane while she was sleeping. Authorities say the victim woke up when she heard Mondestin breaking in and was able to hide from him and call 9-1-1.
Troopers say Mondestin found the victim hiding in her living room and pulled her out of the hiding spot. Police say Mondestin then made statements to the victim about it being his home before leaving the living room, allowing the victim to call 9-1-1 again. Police reportedly arrived at the home around 7:20 p.m., as Mondestin returned to the room, and arrested him without incident.
Mondestin was taken to Troop 3, where he was charged with below crimes, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $15,100 secured bond.
