Los Angeles leaders have imposed a downtown curfew through Wednesday morning to deal with protests against President Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown. Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom, meanwhile, is accusing Trump of drawing a “military dragnet” across the nation’s second-largest city with his escalating use of the National Guard. Trump ordered the deployment of nearly 5,000 troops, including National Guard and Marines, to LA. Newsom said Trump’s immigration crackdown has gone well beyond arresting criminals and that “dishwashers, gardeners, day laborers and seamstresses” are among those being detained.
