Lifeguard Chairs

Lifeguard chairs bunched up on the beaches in Ocean City.

OCEAN CITY, Md. – The Ocean City Beach Patrol announced its lifeguarding programs will end for the season today.

The patrol said lifeguard stands will promptly be removed from the beach, advising visitors to avoid water-related activities and “keep your feet in the sand until the lifeguard is in the stand.”

While going in the ocean when lifeguards are off-duty is not prohibited, town ordinance does not allow anyone on the beach or in the water between 12 p.m. and 6 a.m.

Beach Patrol is scheduled to resume on Memorial Day, when ten miles of Ocean City’s beaches will be lifeguarded seven days a week.
