CRISFIELD, Md. - One man was injured Friday morning after a fire broke out inside a detached garage in Somerset County, according to the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office.
The fire was reported around 9:04 a.m. in the 2900 block of Byrdtown Road in Crisfield.
Investigators said the fire started inside a one-story brick and wood-framed detached garage and was accidentally caused by a welding operation.
One adult man was transported to a nearby medical facility for treatment of a burn injury. No one was displaced.
The Crisfield Volunteer Fire Department responded with 19 firefighters. Officials said it took about one hour to bring the fire under control.
The State Fire Marshal’s Office estimated the fire caused about $100,000 in damage to the structure and another $40,000 in damage to its contents.
The fire was discovered by an occupant. No arrests were made.
