DOVER, DE - A Dover man is dead after a car hit him as he was attempting to cross N. DuPont Highway (Rt. 13) on foot Tuesday night. 

The Dover Police Department says they were called to the intersection of North DuPont Highway and Kings Highway just after 9:30 p.m. on December 5th on reports of a crash. The ensuing investigation revealed a 57-year-old victim was crossing the road south of the intersection when a Ford Focus driving south on Rt. 13 struck him. The man was not wearing any reflective material, according to police. 

First responders rendered aid and took the victim to Bayhealth Kent Campus for treatment of his injuries, but the 57-year-old died at the hospital. His identity has not yet been released, pending notification of his family.

The driver of the Ford, an 82-year-old Dover man, was uninjured, according to police.

Dover Police continue to investigate the fatal crash and ask any witnesses to contact them at 302-736-7130.
