Property renovated by Isreal Buenrostro Alvarez and Jose Erick Chavez at 424 Banks St. in Pocomoke.

POCOMOKE, Md. – The Pocomoke Area Chamber of Commerce announced it recently instituted a Merit Award program to recognize owners of improved properties, both residential and commercial.

Recognized improvements can include exterior renovations, rehabilitation, general clean up, landscaping and other changes which raise property values and improve neighborhoods.

The award’s first recipients are Isreal Buenrostro Alvarez and Jose Erick Chavez – owners who restored an abandoned dwelling at 424 Bank St. The property will temporarily bare a sign recognizing the awarded efforts.

The chamber says nominations will be accepted through its office or by email at pocomokechamber@gmail.com – saying before and after pictures are appreciated.
