Biden Takes the Helm as President: 'Democracy has Prevailed'

DELAWARE - Whether you're from Rehoboth Beach where the Biden's call their summer home, or you live in the western part of the county, Delawareans are proud of their small state.

WBOC spoke with people on both sides of the aisle about President Joe Biden's inauguration, and the thought everyone shared, was a call for unity.

The 46th President of the United States is the 1st President of Delaware, and many Delawareans are proud.

"It's definitely history in the making in America today," said Timothy Bennett from Bethany.

For Christine Clark of Long Neck, President Biden's inauguration is a piece of history.

She said, "We're sitting home watching it, it's a historical event, and amazing historic event. And trying to explain to our grandson just how important it is, and that one day he will be telling his children about this"

There are plenty of people from both sides of the aisle in Delaware. Chad Reed of Lincoln says no matter your views, we must move forward together.

"I think we all need to find common ground," he said, "It may not be what everybody wants, including myself, but it is our country, we do live in a democracy still."

Clark believes Biden can bring Delawareans together.

"I noticed when we moved here that Delaware is a state that tends to take care of its people. Now, I did not live here while Biden had a hand in that, but he was a part of Delaware's government for so many years, he had to of had a hand in that," she said.

The 46th president is now sworn in, and many Delawareans are holding their heads high, with pride in their hearts.
