DOVER, De. - A fire Sunday afternoon in Dover left one man dead and his daughters without a home.
Authorities say that the fire broke out some time after 4pm Sunday. Kimberlynne Kibler, a friend of the family and the aunt of the victim's grandson, identified the 61 year old victim as George Luff. She says the fire is still a shock.
"Wow when you talk about how your life could change in an instant...we talk about having a bad day at work, oh I had the worst day ever...I couldn't even imagine," said Kibler.
Luff has two adult daughter who lived with him, but they were not home at the time of the blaze.
"They said they were just out at the beach, relaxing, then they heard a big explosion and they could see the fire and I just can't imagine how their hearts probably dropped," explained Kibler.
The pair are unable to work due to disabilities, so friends are hoping that the community can help rally support around the Luff family.
"When I tell you they would give you the shirt off their back, they don't have much, they don't come from much anyway, it's just really a shame that the worst things happen to truly some of the best people in the world," Kibler told us.
Friends have put together a GoFundMe for the Luff family, and if you're interested in donating, you can click here.
