MILFORD, De. - People in Milford no longer have to make the trek to Dover or Rehoboth to catch a movie.
Milford Movies 9 quietly opened it's doors over the New Year's holiday in order to keep crowds down, manager Sven Johnson told us.
"We're an independently owned theater, and this theater is for the community, that's what it's for. So just offering the best movie theater we can for the community," said Johnson, as he showed off the new theater.
One of the highlights of Milford Movies 9 are these luxury seats that you can enjoy a movie in. You can recline, adjust your head rest, and you can even heat your seats for the most comfortable movie viewing experience possible.
While the staff is excited to welcoming movies goers, they also have safety in mind.
"The big thing is masks, and inside the theater, we keep two seats on either side of everybody. So that there's six feet, as you can see there are nice big rows so there's plenty of distance this way and we keep the two seats on either side to make sure there is plenty of distance inside the theaters as well."
Community member say that they are looking forward to catching a film at the new theater, and that it's a great addition to the city.
"I think it's pretty cool, Milford getting something like that. The beach has a movie theater - they actually have two of them, they got the old school movie theater by Lefty's and then they got the regular movie theater that everyone used to go to growing up. I think it's pretty cool for us to getting something," said William Webb of Ellendale.
"Anything that brings more business into the city is good. Anything. And if it brings more recreation to the city, that's good," added Bill Croteau of Milford.
