Updated: Harrington Head Start Aide Charged With Sexual Assault of Children

HARRINGTON, Del. - A Kent County preschool aide is facing three counts of sexual abuse of a child and a charge of unlawful sexual contact.

According to Harrington police, the department was contacted in May by the Division of Family Services in reference to a possible sexual abuse complaint that allegedly occurred at the Telemon Head Start located in the 100 block of East Street in Harrington.

Harrington police detectives began an investigation and were assisted by the Child Advocacy Center and the Delaware Department of Justice.

Police said investigators determined that on separate occasions, two juveniles, ages 4 and 5, were sexually assaulted.

On Friday, Timothy K. McCrary, 27, was taken into custody at his home in Houston by Harrington police and Delaware State Police and transported to the Harrington Police Department for processing.

McCrary was charged with three counts of first-degree sexual abuse of a child by a person of trust and one count of unlawful sexual contact where the victim is less than 13.

McCrary was then arraigned via video phone at Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institute in default of $235,000 cash only bond.

The Harrington Police Department said it is continuing its investigation.

Any parents who suspect that their child may be a victim of McCrary or anyone with information about McCrary should contact the Harrington Police Department at 302-398-4493, ext. 12.
