Well-Known Local Photographer Facing Charges of Abuse

SUSSEX CO., Del. - Well-known local photographer Kyle Kaminski from Milton, DE has been arrested for physical abuse of his former girlfriend of two years.

Court documents say the thirty-one year-old was charged with assaulting her on multiple counts.

Delaware State Police told WBOC Kaminski faces two counts of third-degree assault and one count of offensive touching.

DSP says Kaminski was arrested on Feb. 2, and was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court #2, where he was issued secured bond.

Court documents detail multiple instances of physical abuse against his girlfriend of two years.

According to the documents, Kaminski's accuser told detectives that he punched and slapped her on multiple occasions, threw her against a garage door, and raped her, among other accusations. Court documents also state detectives reviewed video evidence of the instances.

We reached out to Kaminski for a comment, but the defendant did not respond.

Kaminski kept his professional life largely separate from his private life. We spoke with a number of art galleries in the area, including Peninsula Gallery, only three doors down from what was the defendant's studio. The owner here told WBOC Kaminski only came in a handful of times with professional questions like framing techniques for his photos. She said she never knew him well enough to make a judgment on his character.

Since his arrest, Kaminski's Facebook and Instagram accounts have been deleted.

Kaminski's accuser spoke with us today on the condition of anonymity.

She said she wants "to ensure this cycle of abuse ends with me and that Kyle receives the help he needs. I encourage anyone in this situation where they are the victim of violence to immediately seek help."

DSP told WBOC Kaminski's case was transferred to the Sussex County Court of Common Pleas. According to Delaware Courts, his appearance there is scheduled for Aug. 9, 2021.
