Iconic Delaware Farm Has Plans to Reopen

TOWNSEND, Del.- An iconic Delaware farm is inching closer to making its comeback, four months after it was destroyed by a fire.

Willey Farms in Townsend says it will open its garden center and greenhouse on April 12, just in time for Easter. It will feature a variety of flowers, annuals and plants available in a variety of sizes. This will be a temporary selling spot, as there's still plenty to rebuild before the farm can return to its full capacity.

The farm posted a video on YouTube announcing its reopen date and thanking its customers for their patience and support. This was welcome news to customers as the company nearly hinted to reopening back in February, without an official date.

A lot of work has been going on since the fire back on Nov. 4, 2018. That fire destroyed the main building and all of its contents. Assistant State Fire Marshal Michael G. Chionchio said the origin and cause of the fire is still not determined.
