OCEAN CITY, Md.- Former Ocean City mayor Roland E. "Fish" Powell died Wednesday morning at age 89, multiple media outlets report.
Powell served as mayor of the resort town from 1985-1996. He also served as a town councilman and a Worcester County commissioner.
According to the Ocean City Volunteer Fire Company, Powell served 65 years with the company, with 27 of those years being active years. He served as chief for nine years.
In honor of Powell's service to the community, Ocean City's convention center was named after him.
Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.
