Hebron House Fire Under Investigation

HEBRON, Md.- Authorities are investigating a late Sunday night fire that caused tens of thousands of dollars in damage to a home in Hebron. 

The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office said the fire broke out shortly after 11 p.m. at a two-story home located at 308 Chestnut St. 

It took 30 firefighters from the Hebron Volunteer Fire Department approximately 35 minutes to get the blaze under control. 

The fire caused an estimated $70,000 in damage to the structure and another $15,000 in damage to its contents. There were no reported injuries.

A smoke alarm was present but failed to activate, investigators said. 

Deputy state fire marshals determined the fire started in a bathroom but the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
