CAMBRIDGE, Md.- Dorchester County now has a bigger and improved 911 center.
The county's emergency services updated their equipment in Cambridge to provide better and faster service.
Upgrades include a new location within the same building, new computers, and a better communication system.
Dispatchers have started working at the center and the improvements created room to expand the team as well.
"It actually almost doubled the capacity for call takers and dispatchers. In an event of an emergency, we always have a staff of four, but now we can up-staff in the event of a disaster," said Emergency Communications Division Chief Nicholas Kovach.
Staff also said there are still plenty of improvements to make and that they hope to fully complete the project within the next six months.
