CENTREVILLE, Md.- Two people are facing multiple charges after authorities say a search of the SUV they were driving resulted in the seizure of heroin and cocaine in Queen Anne's County.
It happened the afternoon of May 12 on Route 213 on Taylor Mill Road in Centreville, when the Queen Anne’s County Drug Task Force, assisted by the Queen Anne’s County Office's SCOPE team, served a search and seizure warrant on a 2010 GMC Acadia.
Authorities said the SUV was occupied by Heather Leigh Godfrey, 34, and John Edward Scott, 35, and two children, ages 4 and 2. Scott initially gave a false name as he had an open arrest warrant for failure to appear in court, the Sheriff's Office said.
Investigators said a search of Godfrey, Scott, and the vehicle, revealed 19.5 grams of suspected heroin / fentanyl, 0.7 grams of cocaine, and paraphernalia in the form of plastic bags. Based on the circumstances of the arrest, the 2010 GMC Acadia was also seized. The children were released to a relative.
The seized suspected heroin / fentanyl has a current street value in Queen Anne’s County of approximately $1,900 and was packaged and in sufficient quantity to indicate an intent to distribute the same, according to the Sheriff's Office.
Godfrey was charged with possession of heroin with the intent to distribute, possession of heroin, possession of cocaine, possession of paraphernalia, and reckless endangerment of a minor.
Scott had an outstanding arrest warrant through the Queen Anne’s County Circuit Court. He was charged with possession of heroin with the intent to distribute, possession of heroin, possession of cocaine, possession of paraphernalia, and reckless endangerment of a minor.
Both Godfrey and Scott were initially held without bond.
