Salisbury's Mayor to Announce City's First Poet Laureate

SALISBURY, Md.- The City of Salisbury is ranked the number one fastest growing city with affordable housing in Maryland according to a new study bu LendEDU.

The city is also ranked 334th in a nationwide study of the same data.

Salisbury says, "As more and more people look to leave larger, more congested cities like Baltimore and Washington, D.C., many prospective home buyers see Salisbury as the perfect medium between the hustle and bustle of the city and calm coastal life."

“We are so excited that Salisbury has received this national recognition from LendEDU,” said Ron Strickler, director of Salisbury’s Housing and Community Development Department. "It’s very important to us that we are creating an ever-expanding, yet tight-knit community that is affordable for people looking to move here.”

LendEDU analyzed local zip codes and compiled housing data across the country. The list detals the top 1,000 cities across the United State that are expected to grow the fastest over the next five years. They then ranked them according to each city’s monthly home cost, which includes mortgage payments and estimated utility costs.

LendEDU’s website states that Salisbury is projected to grow by 10.03% over the next five years and the median monthly home cost in Salisbury is relatively low, at just over $1,300 a month, which includes mortgages and utilities.

“As Salisbury continues to grow, with new businesses popping up and houses being bought and sold, we are excited to see data that indicates that our efforts to make Salisbury a great place to live, work, and grow are having the desired effect,” said City Administrator Julia Glanz.
