SALISBURY, Md. - Black Friday is known for the deals that day brings and for some shoppers that means swarming department stores while for others that means supporting small businesses.
Denise Billing is at Kuhn's Jewelers scoping out what she may want to buy on Black Friday.
"Our local businesses are here for us all year round and they deserve out support on Black Friday," Billing said.
Susan Purnell is the owner of Kuhn's Jewelers and she is looking forward to a banner year.
"If you consider all the nonprofits in the area and you go to any fundraiser you don't see any kind of help or support from these big box stores or the internet you see it from the local businesses like ours," Purnell said.
Right down the street from Kuhn's Jewelers is Martha Ogburn, owner of Barefoot Baby Boutique.
"I don't think people really think about how it affects the community," Ogburn said. "I think they look at how it's convenient just to sit in your jammies and order something online and be done."
That's exactly why Matthew Scott will be shopping online this year.
"The internet is more productive nowadays as far as shopping and it's easier so you don't have to deal with the long lines and standing out in the cold and trying to get that good deal," Scott said.
Then there are those shoppers like Ashley Anngross and she said she is going to the big box stores instead.
"Sometimes I go to small businesses to see what I like but sometime I don't really find anything so I go to the big businesses and I really find a lot of bargains," Anngross said.
Ultimately the decision is in the hands of the shopper but there are Black Friday deals all across Delmarva in both small and big businesses.
