DPH Wraps Up Three Day Vaccination Drive Through

SALISBURY, Md. - Vaccine distribution in Maryland is still moving slower than expected, despite the state moving into Phase 1B on Monday.

For those eligible for the vaccine, such as:

  • People 75 years or older
  • People who live in assisted or senior living facilities
  • People who live in a developmental disabilities/behavioral health group home
  • Teachers, child care providers and other education workers
  • Government workers

Signing up to be vaccinated is as simple as a few clicks on a computer. The above video will explain visually how to do so. Many health departments and hospital networks on the Eastern Shore are offering vaccination clinics, however, according to Lori Brewster of the Wicomico County Health Department, "there's a limited number of doses in the state and county."

If you are eligible, how do you sign up? First, type in: https://www.marylandvax.org/ in your browser. There you will be able to see which clinics are available. As of Wednesday, no Eastern Shore clinics have openings.

The next step will be to fill out basic information such as: name, date of birth, address, phone number, etc. You will then be asked what type of insurance you will use, as well a series of medical questions. Individuals can even choose between the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines.

After that, you can choose the time you want to be vaccinated. In some cases, for the date you choose, there will be no availability, however, you can choose to be placed on a waiting list.

From there, click 'Save and Continue'. That completes your registration to receive a COVID vaccine in the state of Maryland. You will receive a confirmation email detailing your next steps.

When your appointment date approaches, Lori Brewster says you must have some form of identification with you, regardless of age. Brewster also says it is up to the individual who receives the initial dose of either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, to schedule their second dose.
