RIDGELY, Md. - The Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of a house fire that happened in Ridgely Monday morning.
Fire crews responded to a three-story home on Maple Avenue just after 10 a.m. Monday.
According to the fire marshal's office, it took about 30 firefighters with the Ridgely Volunteer Fire Department around 45 minutes to get the fire under control.
The homeowner, Luis Velez, discovered the fire on the front porch, but the fire marshal's office said its investigating how it started.
There were no injuries reported as a result of the fire. Officials said it caused an estimated $150,000 in damages to the structure and nearly $100,000 in damages to the contents inside the Caroline County home. Fire crews said the smoke alarm was present and it did activate.
