WESTMINSTER, Md. (AP) - Three people were killed during a nighttime head-on collision between two cars on Maryland Route 140, state police said Sunday.
A Chevrolet Camaro traveling eastbound traveling at a speed of 100 mph at 10:25 p.m. Saturday struck a Toyota Corolla heading westbound, according to police.
The Camaro’s driver had begun to pass another vehicle and entered the westbound lanes, police said.
The three people were declared dead at the scene by the Westminster Fire Department.
They are the Camaro's driver, identified by police as Todd Baker, 53, of Westminster; the Toyota’s driver, Anna Marie Lienhard, 20, of Westminster; and a Camaro passenger, who wasn't immediately identified Sunday.
The collision’s cause remained under investigation on Sunday.
Route 140 was closed for four hours.
