SALISBURY, Md. - A Wicomico County man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for raping a one-year-old infant.

Tavon Jabire Tull, 23, of Salisbury, was sentenced March 21 in Wicomico County Circuit Court by Judge S. James Sarbanes.

Judge Sarbanes declared Tull a sexually violent predator and ordered Tull to register and be supervised for life as a Tier III sex offender.

Tull was found guilty by Judge Sarbanes in January of second degree rape.

Prosecutors say Tull’s victim was a one-year-old infant who was taken to Peninsula Regional Medical Center for treatment of unspecified injuries.

Wicomico County State’s Attorney Jamie L. Dykes commended the Wicomico County Child Advocacy Center, the Sexual Assault Response Team at PRMC and the lead investigator, Detective C. Kirkpatrick with the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office.

Dykes also commended Ajene M. Turnbull, Assistant State’s Attorney, who prosecuted the case.

Dykes noted, “Those involved in this investigation cannot forget the brutality inflicted upon this defenseless child.”
