REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. -- Rehoboth Beach City Commissioners are scheduled to discuss possible solutions to parking problems affecting businesses during the city's annual Sea Witch Festival.
According to officials and several businesses, many people park their cars along Rehoboth Avenue days before the October festival even starts to secure a spot for tailgating. For businesses, the practice takes up parking for shoppers and employees.
"It's really frustrating when people park their cars the day or the night before, and it affects all of us who work on the avenue," says Morgan Spano, an employee at The Pink Turtle.
"Every year, I think it's gotten a little bit worse," adds Patty Quercetti of The Lilypad Children's Boutique. "It's hard if you're a shopper or you need to come into town just to run an errand. There are no spots."
On Thursday, WBOC spoke with Carol Everhart of the Rehoboth Beach—Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce. She says the chamber recommends prohibiting parking on Rehoboth Avenue the night before the festival starts. Otherwise, cars will be towed.
City Commissioners plan to discuss solutions on Monday at 9 a.m. during a workshop in City Hall.
