Road Work Generic

BERLIN, Md. – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration announced plans to begin a two-month resurfacing project on US-50 in Worcester County.

The department seeks to resurface a 7-mile westbound stretch of highway between MD-818 in Berlin (Main Street) and the Worcester-Wicomico County line near Willards.

Work is scheduled to begin Monday and continue each weekday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. until the project’s completion in December, weather permitting.

SHA says motorists can expect traffic delays and single-lane closures throughout the project’s duration, and should exercise caution when traveling through work zones.

Motorcyclists are also urged to be aware of uneven pavement in work areas. According to the administration, hot asphalt may require up to two hours to cool before drivers and pedestrians can safely cross the new road surface.
