35-year-old Katie Dilworth of Seaford

LAUREL, DE.- A Seaford woman has been arrested on drug charges following a traffic stop Wednesday night.

Delaware State Police say the Sussex County Governor’s Task Force was doing patrols in Laurel when they saw an SUV going southbound on Sussex Highway and turning left onto 4th Street without signaling. Detectives pulled the SUV over and spoke with the driver identified as 35-year-old Katie Dilworth. Two children were also inside.

When they asked Dilworth to get out of the car, officers say she was seen trying to conceal a clear plastic bag with a white powdery substance and a cut straw.

Dilworth was arrested without incident.

A search of the SUV found nearly 7 grams of suspected crack cocaine, nearly 2 grams of powder cocaine, and two Alprazolam pills.

Dilworth was taken to Troop 4 where she was charged with the following crimes:

  • Possession with Intent to Deliver Controlled Substance (Felony) – 2 counts
  • Possession of Controlled Substance Tier 1 (Felony)
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – 2 counts
  • Unlawfully Dealing with a Child under 18 to Remain in Place where narcotics or Dangerous Drug Activity – 2 counts
  • Failure to Signal

Dilworth was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 3 and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $21,550 cash bond.
