SUSSEX CO., DE - The MERR Institute says they rescued another seal pup in Sussex County on Saturday.

The Marine Education, Research and Rehabilitation Institute (MERR) says they rescued a female gray seal pup on Saturday, April 12th.

According to the wildlife institute, the 2.5-month-old seal crawled across four lanes of traffic on Route 1, on the south-side of the Indian River Inlet Bridge. She was found stuck in vegetation near the road.

MERR officials were able to rescue the seal safely. They say the mammal was found with several bite wounds and is now receiving care at their institute. In the tradition of the MERR Institute's naming convention of constellations, the seal pup was named Andromeda.
