LAUREL, Del.- A suspect in the Hollybrook Apartments shooting in Laurel turned himself in on Monday, police say.

The Laurel Police Department says 25-year-old James Surratt, of Laurel, was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $132,500 cash bond.

Officers say the shooting happened at the Hollybrook Apartments Wednesday, September 27. Laurel Police first alerted the public to the incident on Pasture Lane via its Facebook page, describing the scene around 10:45 p.m. as "contained" to the area of the 400 building in the complex, before finally declaring the scene cleared just after 11 p.m..

Police say one victim was transported by Delaware State Police aviation to a trauma center. A second victim reportedly sustained injuries as a result of the incident but declined emergency medical services.

On Thursday, September 28, Laurel Police identified a suspect in the shooting as Surratt. He is wanted on multiple charges including assault first degree, reckless endangering, and possession of a firearm during commission of a felony, according to police. 

Police say Surratt has ties to Millsboro, Delaware and the Hollybrook Apartments. According to police, and Surratt was believed to be armed and dangerous.
