Somerset County Man Arrested in Connection to Murder

SOMERSET COUNTY, Md. - Maryland State Police arrested a man in connection to a fatal shooting in Marion Station.

State police say shortly before 3 a.m. on Oct. 1, troopers from the Princess Anne Barrack responded to a home on the 28800 block of Hudson Corner Road in Marion Station for a report of a woman who was shot.

Authorities say troopers and Crisfield Police arrived on scene and witnessed the suspect, 42-year-old Morris Edward Cotton, of Marion Station, exiting the home. Cotton was reportedly taken into custody at the scene.

Police say they entered the home and found the victim, Amy Jean Uff, 53, of Marion Station. She died at the scene, according to police.

State police say Cotton is charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder, and related charges. Cotton will be held at the Somerset County Detention Center pending a bond hearing.

The Maryland State Police Homicide Unit is leading the investigation.
