Sussex Central Student Arrested for Bringing BB Gun to School

GEORGETOWN, Del. - Troopers say a 17-year-old boy is facing felony charges after bringing a BB gun to Sussex Central High School.

Delaware State Police say the student was displaying the gun to peers, alarming others by repeatedly racking the slide of the weapon. The School Resource Officer and Constables reportedly intervened, detaining the 17-year-old.

Upon searching the student, state police say a BB gun was discovered. He was transported to Troop 4 and charged with the following crimes:

  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon (Felony)
  • Possession of a Weapon in a Safe School Zone (Felony)
  • Disorderly Conduct

He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3 and committed to Stevenson House Detention Center on a $2001 secured bond.
