GEORGETOWN, Del.- The Georgetown Police Department has confirmed last week's fatal fire in Georgetown claimed the life of an 18-month-old child as well as an 87-year-old victim.

The Georgetown Fire Company says it responded to the 200 block of East Market Street around 8:30 in the morning on September 14th. Crews arrived to the two-story home engulfed in flames. A bystander reportedly told fire crews that two people were trapped inside. The 87 year-old and the 18 month-old were reportedly rescued.

The two people were reportedly taken to Beebe Hospital. The 87 year-old reportedly died in the emergency room. Officials say the 18 month-old was flown to the Nemours Children's Hospital in Wilmington, where they were listed in critical condition.

Georgetown Police confirmed today the child had also succumbed to their injuries from the fire.

State fire investigators and detectives from the Georgetown Police Department are investigating what led up to the fire. Officials say damages from the fire is estimated at $300,000.

Surviving family members include several adults and children ranging in age from 6 to 83, according to police. The Georgetown Police Department is helping to organize donations that can be made to the surviving family here.
