SERIOUS CRASH GENERIC

EDEN, Md. - The Wicomico County Sheriff's Office is investigating a hit and run crash that claimed the life of one man.

Deputies say it happened around 8 p.m. Monday night, December 4th on South Upper Ferry Road at Siloam Road in Eden. According to police, a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle.

When Police arrived, a man, identified as Aaron Douglas III, 32, was found with life-threatening injuries. The Sheriff's Office says Douglas was airlifted and taken to Shock Trauma where he was hospitalized in critical condition.

Wicomico County Sheriff Mike Lewis tells WBOC that Douglas was walking with his girlfriend on the side of the road at the time of the crash, pushing her out of the way of the car and likely saving her life.

On Wednesday, December 13th, police say they were informed Douglas had succumbed to his injuries.

Deputies interviewed witnesses who described a suspect vehicle, which was later found by the Princess Anne Police Department. Police say the vehicle was seized pending a crime scene analysis. Although a person of interest has been identified, Deputies say charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.

The investigation is ongoing, according to police, and anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to call police at 410-548-4892.
