ACCOMAC, VA - Lieutenant Joshua Marsh with the Accomack County Sheriff’s Office tells us the 24-year-old victim in the March 20th shooting died on Saturday. 

Lt. Marsh says any new or upgraded charges will be filed during arraignment, although there's no date set for that yet.

The Accomack County Sheriff's Office has arrested a man in connection to a fatal shooting in the Town of Accomac Thursday.

Police say they were called to the Shore Stop on Lankford Highway (Rt. 13) just after 5:30 a.m. on March 20 on reports of a shooting victim. Upon arrival to the mart, police found Pradipkumar Ratilal Patel, 56, of Accomac, suffering from gunshot wounds. Patel died at the scene.

Further search of the store revealed a 24-year-old woman also suffering from a gunshot wound. She was flown to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital and is currently in critical condition.

A family member said Thursday Patel was the 24-year-old's father. 

The Accomack County Sheriff's Office says the ensuing investigation led to an arrest warrant being issued for George Frazier Devon Wharton, 44, of Onancock. Wharton is currently held at the Accomack County Jail with no bond on the following charges:

-1st Degree Murder

-Attempted 1st Degree Murder

-Use of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony (x2)

-Possession of a Firearm by a Felon

Multiple Accomack County Sheriff’s Deputies and Virginia State Police were on the scene Thursday, with the Shore Stop taped off into the afternoon.

Police say the incident is still under investigation and ask anyone with information to contact them at 757-787-1131.
